Sculptor Matias Karsikas (b.1989), lives and works in Helsinki. His sculptures are often figure-like shapes with refined forms. He borrows shapes directly from the field of industrial design and combines the forms with his distinct, unconstrained style and hand finishing.

Matias uses ceramics as his main material and shows a light humoristic attitude in his works, which makes them more approachable to the public. His works juxtapose associations: homely and natural flora with robotics and the form-language of computer games, or material versus form. The sculptures are very formalistic and convey a simple message without explanation.
