About us and our take on sustainability

Lokal is a Helsinki-based concept gallery bringing forth local artwork and craftsmanship. To value timeless beauty, sustainable design and most importantly, to nurture real community, are the things at the forefront of our activity. Lokal creates and brings to you moments in which art, craftsmanship and sustainability come together, reflecting the harmony of nature in both essence, material and design.

Our regularly changing curated group and solo exhibitions host a wide array of works of local artists, visionaries, makers and masters. The sales exhibitions are available both at our gallery in Helsinki and in our website, online gallery. Our gallery at Annankatu 9, Helsinki also hosts a shop with home items skillfully designed and crafted by local artisans. You may discover our curated exhibitions occasionally in another locations also internationally.

We are inspired by what is found in the connecting seams between artistic expression, artisanship, skill and craft. Culturally, a close relationship to nature shapes our way of thinking and our understanding of natural materials and their value. Craftsmanship is not only a way of being in an intimate dialogue with that which surrounds us, it also is an education in valuable heritage and ecological consciousness.

Sustainability is something we wish to embed in all our activity, ranging from uncompromising quality of small-scale production, to cultivating supportive social atmospheres within our ever-growing Lokal Community.
