Riikka Piippo is a designer who works across a range of mediums, including ceramics, textiles, and accessories. Piippo finds inspiration in the possibilities of clay, and enjoys the challenge of exploring textures and hues through experimenting with glazes. Her works are characterized by an earthy, harmonious expression that is both modern and timeless.
“I find the coiling technique to be an essential aspect of my practice as it keeps me closely connected to the clay, providing me with a deep understanding of its possibilities and limitations. I am fascinated by the versatile nature of clay as a medium – creating the vase can be a meditative process, while executing delicate, almost gravity-defying embellishments requires breathless concentration.”
