Abstract, Figurative

Charlotta Boucht, Helsinki-based photographer, is found with camera in hand on her travels around the world. With a background in documentary photography, as well as commercial photography, she finds serenity in her personal artistic work which is born in a space alongside her other work.

“What is the soul of a certain place? What does the atmosphere consist of? Why do people feel particularly comfortable in certain places?

I’ve tried to find an atmosphere through my pictures that appeals to me personally, I don’t know what it is, I’m sure I’ll never find those answers and it doesn’t matter. I am interested in places where there is a human trace, the kind where human attempts to create either beauty or work or connection with nature can be seen. I have photographed the most while traveling because when traveling it is easier to reach a state where everyday thoughts give way to felt experiences in a different way. Then I am freer and more present.”
