Jaea Chang

Jaea Chang is a Helsinki-based artist from South Korea, focusing on contemporary ceramics. Having her background in graphic design, she has transitioned into the art field as a maker/artist, following her interests in handcrafts. Her working process is spontaneous but always organized and controlled. She uses a simple technique, building and cutting, to create the visual patterns in the ceramic body. Stained porcelain is the primary material in her art practice. Her handcrafted ceramics often demonstrate warm and soft feelings with fabric-like forms. In the slow process of ceramic production, she finds the significance of knowledge gained through experience and creativity.
