Essi Nieminen | Bobbles And Hays

Essi Nieminen (b. 1992) is a Helsinki-based visual artist, musician and art educator. Nieminen works mainly in painting. Her artistic process focuses on playful, intuitive exploring and making. She loves messy & chaotic processes, as well as organizing and stacking things. She works with found objects and images, everyday observations, notions emerging – or purely just follows materials, colour and shape. Her practice is often fast-paced and frantic, and usually leads her to a nice place. Nieminen has studied art in Aalto ARTS (BA & MA), Universität der Künste Berlin (painting minor) and Oriveden opisto (fine arts). Since 2015 she has taken part in numerous group exhibitions and had solo exhibitions in Helsinki and Jyväskylä. In addition to painting, she makes installation, street art, comics, prints and photos. Nieminen hopes to deliver a presence of kindness through her practice.
