“Karamelli is a journey into a world of sweetness and imagination, where glass sparkles in delicious colors and broken glass is temptingly reminiscent of sugar. On the border between beauty and danger, the familiar and the strange, every gate opens a door to a new world. As children, we would search for fairy gates in the forest. They could be found in secret springs or in snow-covered trees that formed a natural arch above the traveler. As we passed through the gate, we kept a wish in mind. On the other side, a new world awaited – one where our wish could already come true.”

Paula Pääkkönen (b. 1990) is a glassblower and artist. She has chosen glass as her main material because of its challenge and endless possibilities. Glassblowing techniques are a great source of inspiration for her and an essential part of her artistic work. As an artist, she works on themes related to childhood, memories and imagination. In his work, he strives for that moment when magic is still present and proportions can do somersaults.
