Anssi Kasitonni (b. 1978) is a Finnish multidisciplinary artist whose art combines subculture, serious subjects, humour and popular culture. His production includes a wide range of methods and techniques from sculptures to short films and more. In 2011 Kasitonni was awarded the Ars Fennica award.

“There are two linocut pieces, one of which is a collection of four plates. It’s based on these flash tattoos. Although now that I think about it, I might have misunderstood the concept of flash tattoos. I thought it meant that the picture was done really quickly, but it probably means that the motif is ready at the tattoo parlour when the customer arrives. Well anyway, I understood it to mean that the text picture was made quickly. Then another one is an American ninja, where there’s this ninja versus a karate man and the American flag right there. And then one piece is based on Commodore 64 cover art with hamburger motifs. There’s just a crazy mood in that picture – such a mess, haha! The fourth work is based on logos and it’s been inspired by that classic tourist shirt look from, let’s say Rhodes.”
