Jaana Wahlsten is a textile artist and has a background in both art and textile design. She combines contemporary and traditional textile design in her work. Most often, the focus of her work is in colour combinations and graphic forms.

“My creative process begins with the materials what I have and from there I experiment with different patterns, shapes and colour combinations. I find it endlessly fascinating to explore how different colours, shapes or techniques can transform the feeling of work. Discovering these possibilites brings me constant joy. It is difficult to say where I find inspiration, because the inspiration or idea for shapes or color combinations can emerge from completely random sources. Certain things just capture my attention and evoke a sense that there is something intriguing about them. I forget most of these things, however I think they stay somewhere in my subconscius mind and intuitively surface in my works.”
