White Wall | Minna Arponen & Julia Töyrylä: Harvest

Cyclicality and the continuous cycle of life serve as the starting point for Julia and Minna’s joint exhibition. The seed of the exhibition germinated as a result of the Bloom exhibition in 2021, in which Minna’s jewellery and Julia’s glass sculptures were displayed side by side. Both artists are united by strong craftsmanship, playful use of colour, glass as a material for their works, and an interest in gardening. The collaboration is based on dialogue and ways of working borrowed from the garden; like partner plants nourishing and supporting each other. Julia works through a spatial dimension and creates details in it with her glass sculptures. Minna’s scale is smaller and her jewellery-like works function as decorations, details – placed on the wall as well as on the body.
