White Wall: Réka Kiraly | Seedling 17.12.2024–18.1.2025

“Opening a low, sturdy wooden gate, I enter a garden of lush greens and hidden warm colors. Small moss patches on my right, some bluebells on the left. Later, a vivid mix of short and tall, wide, fragile plants stand intertwined. One bears large lilac flowers, the other carries orange dots. Far back, a familiar plant with leaves the size of my palm stretches and turns towards the sun.

This is how I see people, when I open my front door to the street. I work with portraits of mostly imaginary plants, capturing the individual characteristics of people I encounter. These portraits are dialogues showing the emerging repetitive elements in nature. At the White Wall exhibition, I experiment with my long-standing art practice with plants. Using various materials, I present a garden of seedlings, plants, some decay, and always something new that awaits.”
