In recent years, Hirvi has expanded her remit to object design, in which she uses associations with ordinary and extraordinary aspects of history and the environment.
Hirvi is passionate about colours. She finds herself constantly interpreting the world around her.

“What I enjoy most is intense periods of work, in which one picture inspires the next and painting evolves without planning. Exploring art, history, and science is fascinating; it’s like a crazy whirlwind in your brain. Even when you think of the word ‘whirlwind’, ideas of new objects and devices begin to surface.”
