Marjut Alitalo

Marjut Alitalo is a Helsinki-based interior architect, designer and wood artisan who developed a passion for ceramics during her bachelor studies at LUAS Insititute of Design. Her work draws inspiration from sources such as exhibitions, theater performances, travels, and nature. Alitalo grew up in a family of craftsmen, where handicrafts were part of everyday life. To create her sympathetic-looking ceramic art pieces, she must overcome anxieties when approaching strangers on the street. Thus each art piece represents a surprising encounter with a familiar or unknown face, a moment that can empower both the artist and the recipient of her interest. Alitalo graduated as Master of Arts in 2021 from Aalto University.
