Ville Tanttu (b. 1967) is a Helsinki-based filmmaker and artist. He writes, directs as well as shoots films, and plays the guitar. In the field of photographic art, Tanttu has spent the last few years on the project “Taittuvan valon valtakunta” (“The kingdom of refracting light”). The style and expression of the various photo series within the project are inspired by the history of fine art, mainly renaissance and expressionism. These works allow Tanttu to express his inner imagery via the means of photography. Using old copper plates as mirrors allowed him to observe and explore reality as if through a renaissance lens, providing a window through time.

“I am inspired by consciousness itself, by nature, and the human longing for truth and beauty.”
