Outi Martikainen, textile designer, born 1962, lives and works in Helsinki. Works include textiles, unique art pieces and everyday items. Public works include the art work on the glass façade of the Finnish National Board of Education in Hakaniemi in Helsinki.
Lokal presents the story behind Outi Martikainen’s artwork Pepita. She was inspired to create this woven bread-bag clip artwork of Pepita, an entertainment elephant working in Finland in the 1950s.
